Nicaragua: Letter
I told you that a letter about the trip to Nicaragua would be coming... And here it is!
Dear
Family and Friends, March
2016
I
am incredibly excited to announce that this summer I will be returning to Nicaragua! From Thursday, July 21st through Tuesday,
August 2nd, our team of nearly 30 students and leaders from Calvary Community
Church (including my brother) will be serving our sister church in Santa Elena,
Managua, Nicaragua. Two years ago, in
2014, I felt God call me to go and to serve there, and ever since that trip, my
love for the country and the people there (as well as for the Spanish language)
has grown exponentially.
This
will be my second trip to Nicaragua and I am filled with joy
and anticipation at the prospect of returning to a country that I love to serve
people that I love. During our trip, we
will be partnering with Carol and Enrique Acosta of RBW Missions
(http://rbwmissions.com) as we
serve the church in Santa Elena in many different
ways, the full extent of which we do not fully know yet. To the best of my knowledge, we will be
organizing a Vacation Bible School for the children of Santa Elena and
continuing the ongoing construction of the church building, as well as reaching
out to the community in the love of Christ.
Regardless of what we do, however, we seek to proclaim the name of the
Lord and to see Him exalted.
While
it may appear rather small, the team and I ask you for your support. Primarily, we desire your support through prayer, because
we know that "if we ask anything according to [God's] will he hears
us" (1 John 5:14). So, we ask your
prayers for us, as we seek to spread the name of the Lord. We know that we will face many struggles,
among which are selfishness, anger, pride, and apathy. We also ask that you pray that the Lord would
be moving and working both in us and through us before, during, and after the
trip.
In
addition, we ask that you support
the team and I financially if you feel that is a step to which God has
called you. This trip
will cost roughly $1,600, and that number may change as we come closer. If you desire to support us in this way, you
can send a check to my address, which is listed below. Please be sure, however, to write the check
out to Calvary Community Church and to leave the memo line blank. Also, if you want to track my progress
leading up to and after the trip, you can visit my blog
(livelovelearnanna.blogspot.com). And if
you have any further questions, feel free to email me (anna.k.emerson@facebook.com),
send me a Facebook message, or call me.
With
much thanks and love,
Anna
Emerson
P.S. For the sake of being computer safe, I changed a few contact things (although they all work).
